Ponies (UK) Elite Riders
Academy
Set up in 2005 the Elite
Riders Scheme objective is to encourage ‘showing riders’ to
seek instruction to improve their own performance and knowledge.
That’s where we first started and we have come along way since!
The Academy has admitted about 100 members of age
10 years and above. They all attended training sessions taken by
the very best instructors from the showing and competition world,
arranged by P(UK) under the Elite Riders Scheme and then went
forward for appraisal. We have three riders who have obtained the
highest grading ‘Gold Star Status’ and as such have been invited to
apply to become P(UK) Ride Judges. So far 4 valuable bursaries for
training have been awarded to Elite Riders after the ‘final’ held
during the Summer Championships, we want the awarding of bursaries
to continue.
Riders from the Academy have gone forward to
represent P(UK) at the inaugural International Showman’s Competition
held at the Summer Championships 2005 and again in 2006 when they
flew to compete in South Africa. OUR TEAM WON IN BOTH 2005
AND 2006! Talks are being held for a competition to take
place in Australia during 2007. We hope that a P(UK) team of Elite
Rider Academy members will be there, is a hat trick possible?
As well as the glory of representing P(UK) in
international competition, the Elite Riders are making their mark in
many other ways. Some stewarded for you at the Summer Championships
2006, others are planning training so that they can progress to
become showing trainers and producers. But for all, the training
they have received under the scheme will help them show and prepare
their ponies and horses to the optimum. Riders from the Academy
will always be the first that the association calls on when
participants are required for judge and membership training days.
Want to join us then watch the P(UK) website for
details of the 2007 scheme, we just get better every year! More
fun, more knowledge, more friendships, more recognition.
